Off-site
DefinitionThis term is used to label archaeological data that has been collected outside the spatial limitations of a defined archaeological site. As these boundaries tend to be arbitrary and far from clear, nor can there be given a solid, singular definition of what a site is, the definition of the term has been under heavy debate during the last decades. In practice, this distinction is most often based on quantitative contrasts in sherd density figures. | |
